Chicago gangsters in the 1920’s, prohibition and the rat-a-tat-tat of the Thompson submachine guns. Less well known is that all these hoods spend a lot of “quality time” in Wisconsin’s northwoods. The bad guys often come north to get away from it all, to escape the big city “heat”. Sometimes, though, it all followed them, leading to some confrontations.
Eddie was denied his pre-war garage mechanic’s job, fixing cabs so he turned to lucrative bootlegging, first delivering the contraband in his own taxi cab then becoming a better-dressed, full-time entrepreneur as he cashes in on illegal profits and manufactures his own illegal moonshine.
