Description: Inspired by stories of Edgar Alan Poe, players start this enigmatic adventure marooned in the center of the mansion in The Masque of the Red Death, and they have 60 minutes to explore and navigate different rooms of the mansion to map out their escape route.
This intense experience culminates in a frantic race against time to exit the mansion before Red Death escapes. The team must plan their escape to be fast and precise, as encountering the Red Death enroute will result in immediate defeat and death.
Summary: Good amount of challenging puzzles for an experienced group.
Puzzles: A lot of difficult and thinky puzzles. Some puzzles revolved around following a set of instructions, with little interaction with the environment. There was a unique exploration mechanic that was enjoyable and impressive.
Immersion: Some puzzles were better-integrated into the room, while others felt more separated from the theme. The exploration mechanic was well done and contributed greatly to the immersion. There was a mix of mechanical locks and tech.
Execution: Everything went smoothly and without glitches. There was not much group coordination, so you'll be mostly working on puzzles solo. The final puzzle was exciting and did involve the entire group.
Group Size: We did it with 6 mostly experienced players. This felt like an ideal size for difficulty, and the room probably would not have accommodated a much larger group comfortably.
